Investigation of HL-CRM Aerodynamics With a UHBPR Nacelle in Powered-on Condition

The paper presents numerical simulations of the NASA High-Lift CRM aircraft model at nominal landing configuration with powered-on engine conditions. A novel UHBR turbofan nacelle is developed for modern aircraft configurations, with the aim to optimize it for transonic cruise flight. The developed nacelle is integrated in the HL-CRM and an initial assessment is carried out using a baseline numerical mesh for RANS simulations with the DLR-TAU flow solver, based on the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. The flow field around the wing, high-lift devices, and nacelle is studied for 6, 12, and 16 deg angle of attack, encompassing stall region.
